This shows average sea level rise in the shaded color, it does not show what flooding results would look like during a flood event. According to the International Panel on Climate Change Summary for Policy Makers out in November 2007, we have already seen a 1.75 inch average global sea level rise since 1993. If development is allowed on the flood plain there we will face continued flooding, blocking of our water table recharge areas, more cars (and more greenhouse gas emissions) leading to increased global warming. This is a policy of poverty and suffering. There is no acceptable level of risk.
